First Mission
Hello and welcome to yet another Lunar Journey devlog. In this devlog I will be discussing missions. If you have been following the updates I have put on the project you will know that missions are very important to the gameplay. I don't want to have any spoilers in this devlog so it might not be very thorough. Now let's dive right in!
Now you might be a little confused by what I mean when I say 'mission'. Is going to complete a mission killing an enemy? Or is it talking to an NPC? Well it's closer to the former than the latter right now but I intend to expand the meaning.
Basically when you talk to a mission giver, He tells you to go somewhere and kill a few enemies. I know that does not really hold true to the metroidvania vibe I'm going for but it's a start. The way I implemented this was actually very basic. I simply create a parent node and instead of having the enemies as children of the root, I have them as children of the parent.
But how do I check if the mission is complete, you ask. Well, I simply check how many children the parent has and if it is 0, then the mission is complete.
The missions will definetly appear in the next update but for now they are missing. Again, please share the link to the project far and wide and also download the game and leave feedback in the comments. By the way I need to find proper playtesters so if you find a way to get some please tell me.
